Lives & works in Abington, MA
My paintings are a mix of acrylics, gouache, and sometimes watercolor. I like to work in a realistic manner, focusing a lot on portraits, landscapes, and homes. Memories are my favorite subject to paint. I have always loved pictures, and coming from a family of poor memories, I cherish the way photography helps me remember past events. Painting these memories adds an importance to them, as the time put into a painting lasts longer than the time it took for the photo to occur. As an art teacher, I live my life planning for the future, so in my painting, I have time to reflect on the moments that may have been fleeting along the way. Portraits and dwellings are important subjects to me as people and homes have so much depth and memorable qualities. These two subjects also go through the most changes in our lives and documenting the stages of development along the way helps me to remember the way I felt, the way things were, and how different things have become. The more time goes by, the more pictures mean to me. I hope my paintings demonstrate a nostalgic love for the past and contain a relatable feeling of comfort amongst its viewers. I also hope they demonstrate the close connection I have with the people and dwellings in my life that I love as they are the strongest influence in my life that make me who I am.
